★☆☆☆☆ Terrible Stay — Never Again at Mayura Chalukya, Badami I had one of the most disappointing hotel experiences of my life at Mayura Chalukya, Badami. We booked a Non-AC room for 3 nights, and it was a complete disaster from start to finish. The room was suffocatingly humid — the fan barely moved the air, and it felt like living inside a closed box. The bed was another nightmare. Its old, sagging springs kept stabbing into our backs every night, leaving us with severe back pain every single morning. The thin blankets they provided did nothing to help. There was zero room service during our stay. I literally had to walk all the way to their kitchen area every time I needed drinking water, refilling it myself from their purifier. The only thing pleasant about that was the garden pathway — but that’s about it. The hotel is far from the main town, so if you don’t have private transport, you’re stuck with their overpriced and just “okay” food. Forget about exploring the market or finding better dining options nearby. Other than being a relatively safe property for families, this place has nothing worth appreciating. I regret booking here and would never recommend it to anyone. N

I am recently staying, took dome cottage, 1 cottage was not ready,no hot water ,geasure not working, ac not working, it took 2hours to solve and change the room. Restaurant not clean,at 8pm soup not available, many veg food mentioned not available, avliable taste? ,next day we opted for food outside,brakefast limited items only.same person may do cleaning of room ,repair, serving in canteen .premices are not clean,so many things to mention Charges very high,as if you are paying double for facilities.please think before you book.

The hotel is by the government tourism department. The numbers available online are not reachable most of the time. The rooms are very small and ventilation is not so great. The room service option is not available. The beds are old and have springs which are mot maintained. This has caused severe back pains and a potential injury issue. The TV remotes were also non functional. The hotel is considerably far from station so plan according to travel timings. There is no luggage room and adjustments in the checkout even when it was possible. The area is not well lit in the evening. The garden and pathways during daytime is the only good thing about the stay there, which also hosts monkeys in the day and bats in night. Also, hot water was not available most of the time whose power socket was is such condition which made us worried. Breakfast gets over by 11 so plan accordingly.

Dec 2025 - I wish I could give 0 for the room. The worst hotel I have stayed in till date. We booked the semi deluxe non ac room. First, all non ac rooms are at the very end of the hotel, the area which is full of wild monkeys. They have literally no facility for these rooms. Handwash which is most basic also we had to request them to give. Bed sheet was not clean, had to ask them to change it. Fan/door/windows everything is broken. There is some useless broken cupboard lying in the room. Lizards were roaming inside and outside the room. Even room service they didnt give (this is specially for non ac rooms, ac rooms were given). Even soap they gave 1 small between 3 people. Never booking any other KSTDC hotels. The only saving grace was the included breakfast. The staff was good but even they couldnt do much. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I came here with my aged mother to visit Badami after staying at Mayura Bhuvaneswari, Hampi. I had booking of deluxe room for one day through Agoda, but after arrival the person at reception named Akbar said it is semi deluxe room at first floor and was persuading me to upgrade to a 3 bedded deluxe room with extra pay of 1500/-. Mr. Akbar is so corrupted that he said he will give that room at the price of double bedded deluxe room. When I started checking the availability online, he said that room was already booked, so online it will not be shown as available. What if the persons who booked will come later, which actually happened, he doesn't bother for that. Since we didn't take that room, he was unhappy. We informed we had train next day evening and so we kept the luggage at reception, checked out in the morning and went to site seeing. Mr. Akbar took the revenge by refusing to give us a bathroom for fresh up and change dress in that evening and forced us to use general toilet, even not having water and unclean, which they were aware of, even though there were plenty of rooms where guest have not arrived yet. Totally worst experience. The rooms have broken springs inside mattress which doesn’t give u good sleep entire night. Had food poisoning due to quality of their ingredients, which spoiled our health for next 2 days. Could not enjoy holiday as well.

This stay deserves 0 STARS . Very unhygienic, plenty of bedbugs, lizards and very dirty bedsheets and pillow covers. They didn't bother to change it. We booked for 4 days left the stay in a single day. Nobody cared about the checkout and still the refund it pending. KSTDC is not even replying to phone calls or emails. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED.

The rooms are very untidy and not properly maintained. Since, it's a govt. approved hotel, nobody really cares about the condition of the hotel. The doors of the room, bathroom doesn't closes properly. The beds are in their worst condition possible. Avoid booking this hotel as the rates are also quite high as compared to the amenities they are offering.

Not worth it. You will get far better rooms and service at this cost. Food is served is very bad. No taste at all. Rooms are not clean, unhygienic. We had a bad experience. We had booked the rooms and cancelled the same day, but its one month we did not receive the refund yet. When we reply them through email, there is no reply from their side and not giving us the status through email as well. The head office staff is irresponsible and did not have the courtesy to reply on email.

Such reviews hardly matter to them as ‘sarkari naukars’, but this is the first time we’ve experienced such disgusting behaviour from a state tourism dept hotel. Everything was broken down, unsavoury food, no initiative to rectify. Would not recommend ever.
