Firstly it was mentioned like 2PM checkin and 12PM checkout in Cleartrip. But the day of checkout they asked to checkout at 11AM which they should have mentioned during checkin. Later their staff tried to enter the locked room by bypassing the lock even though we were inside. This is my main concern. How can someone do this where we were family in the room. They tried to bypass the door lock and enter the room by force. Where is our privacy here. This is so unprofessional and felt like intentional. And the complimentary breakfast was so bad. We couldn't even eat anything.

I was staying in Room 204 on 6th-7th June 2026. Room 204 and 203 are interconnected. Both rooms are separated by a door and I locked it from inside. A man staying in Room 203 started knocking at 1:38 am saying savita open the door. I was terrified. I called number 9 reception but the person was sleeping and no response. In the end I called my husband who was out with his friends. After he confronted the person and yelled at him the management changed my room. Really disappointed. I would suggest single ladies and women to not stay here alone.

20.01.2026: We recently drove down to Chikmagalur to take a short break. The tourist season having almost got over, it was quite easy to move around the city and also to take in the sights. We chose Hunkal Stays after going through the Google reviews of umpteen hotels in and around Chikmagalur. YouTube videos also helped us in narrowing down the choice. The hotel is very prominently located on IG Road with petrol pumps, restaurants, places of tourist interest within easy reach. The internal architecture of the hotel is quite interesting with a spiral staircase climbing three floors. The metal railing and the slanted roof give it a quaint look. We had booked an executive bedroom with attached bath. We found the room to be spick and span. We did not find the towels to be satisfactorily clean, but they were replaced within 5 minutes of a call to the reception. The bathroom also was absolutely clean and dry with luxurious toilet fittings. Soap, gels, shower caps were also provided. Mr. Parth from the hotel was our man Friday from check in till check out. We had a wonderful stay at Hunkal Stay, Chikmagalur. The hotel is located in a prime area, right next to the Chikmagalur bus stand, making it very convenient for travelers arriving by bus. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained. The hosts were extremely warm, welcoming, and always ready to help, which made us feel right at home. The manager, Mr. Partha, was always reachable and quick to assist whenever needed. The food was delicious and freshly prepared, adding greatly to the overall experience.
